About this tour
The valleys of San Juan del Río, Tequisquiapan, and Ezequiel Montes have recently become known for the development of vineyards for the production of fine table wines. Querétaro is the leading state in Mexico’s Central Plateau in the production of table wines. But the Querétaro Central Plateau is also significant for the raising of fighting bulls and dairy cattle. On this occasion, we’ll visit Rancho La Hondonada, home to the Flor de Alfalfa cheese brand. Here, we’ll take a tour to enjoy a delightful experience learning about dairy cattle farming (Jersey and Holstein) as well as the cheese-making process, starting with a walk through the fields and pastures where the cows graze—the very cows from which the milk used to make this culinary delight is obtained. We’ll also learn a bit about the infrastructure and technology used in this process, and discover the variety of products manufactured there. At the end of the tour, you can purchase fresh dairy products made on-site.
